One to One Hotel – the Village demonstrates eco credentials
One to One Hotel – the Village, a four-star boutique property in Abu Dhabi recently participated in the Paper-Less Day held on June 3 and was the only Hotel in Abu Dhabi to receive an appreciation award from the Environmental Agency of Abu Dhabi (EAD).
Paper-Less Day was designed by EAD to encourage organizations to reduce their paper usage. It has gained popularity amongst organizations in the UAE in an unprecedented way with 141 organizations and academic institutions representing 126,756 individuals throughout the UAE and Arab world, contributing to an estimated reduction in 4,287 kg of carbon emissions from the UAE.
On June 5 more than 50 organizations had gathered to show their support for this occasion, an initiative that was launched by EAD in 2008. The organizations had participated in Paper-Less Day 2010 and signed a charter calling for this day to become a fixed staple on the global environmental calendar. Printing and copying of all non-essential paper was stopped on this day.
One to One Hotel – the Village understands, and wants to help raise awareness about the growing problem of excessive paper usage and its contribution towards global warming. In order to do so, they are setting a role model approach also known as the ‘Corporate Heroes’ with the Heroes of UAE, where they are actively putting efforts to reduce their carbon footprints.
“We are trying our best to reduce our carbon footprints, recycle and use eco-friendly products wherever possible. On receiving this award, we feel proud towards supporting this cause and promise continuous support,” said president, Hotel Environmental, Jad Farangieh.
Supporting the green cause further, One to One Hotel – the Village has agreed to partner with Eco Chicks Abu Dhabi by providing them venue support for their green activities and events.
As a growing chain of Hotels, One to One now looks forward to promote eco-tourism in Abu Dhabi by taking green initiatives to fight sustainability issues such as climate change and environmental degradation. |
